How To Read A Speed Test

A browser speed test shows more than one number. To understand your connection properly, you need to read latency, jitter, download, and upload together.

Latency

Latency measures how long it takes for a small request to travel and return. Lower latency usually feels better in interactive tasks such as browsing, gaming, calls, or remote work tools.

Jitter

Jitter describes how unstable latency is over time. Even when average latency looks acceptable, high jitter can make calls, streams, and live sessions feel inconsistent or stuttery.

Download And Upload

Download speed matters for receiving content such as video, files, and web pages. Upload speed matters for sending files, cloud backups, calls, and live streaming. A good connection is not only about high download numbers.

Why Results Change

  • Your local Wi-Fi or device load may change.
  • Different test servers and routes affect results.
  • Browser tests share resources with the current device session.
